aqua6To prevent unnecessary pool closures, Aquaventures has a DOUBLE diaper policy.

If your child is not 100% potty trained, he/she must wear 2 reusable swim diapers with elastic legs and waist. Disposable swim diapers and reusable diapers with Velcro or ties are not permitted because these do not create a good seal around the waist and legs. If you are unsure about a swim diaper that you already have, please bring it in for us to check.

We sell 2 brands of reusable swim diapers: Dolphin Swimwear (adjustable) and Finis.

Our program is proprietary and different from the old Red Cross Swim Kids and the new Lifesaving Society Swim For Life program. We focus on excellent foundation skills and mastery of one stroke at a time, while the Swim For Life program introduces all strokes at the same time in lower levels. We are looking for the proper technique for all skills and strokes, not just distance.

Students are competent in front crawl by the end of our school age program level 4, Maroon. Back crawl is introduced in level 5, Blue. Whip kick is introduced in level 6, Bronze. In comparison, Swim For Life introduces whip kick at their level Swimmer 2, while still learning front and back crawl.

Students coming to us from these other programs are generally in lower levels in our program because they are not yet doing the required skills with the proper technique.

Swimming Class Kids on Floating Duck MatMost students need more than one session to complete a level. We expect students to master specific technical requirements within the skills in each level.

Since we have a maximum of only 4 students per class in all skill-based levels, we always teach to each individual’s skill level and not a class level name. This is done by adjusting the distance, level of assistance, or modifying the activity according to each child. It is much easier to challenge a more advanced swimmer than to have a weaker swimmer struggle in a level that they are not ready for. We want the child to gain confidence and experience success.

If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s progress, please feel free to speak with the Deck Supervisor or contact us.
